ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF APPLIED COGNITIVE PSYCHOLOGY

The Psychology Department at the University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for a senior faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor in applied cognitive psychology with quantitative expertise to start in the fall of 2014. Tenure may be possible at time of hire. We welcome applications from any of the following areas of cognition: attention, human memory, language, learning, and problem-solving. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research has real-world applications in areas such as health, education, and work, and those studying diverse populations, including within typical and/or atypical development.

Candidates must have strong quantitative skills, with expertise in such areas as multivariate methods, causal modeling, longitudinal analysis, and/or measurement equivalence. Candidates must have a PhD in psychology or a related field (cognitive psychology preferred), at least six years of fulltime teaching experience at both the undergraduate and graduate level, a strong record of publication, and success in obtaining grant funding. Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in cognitive psychology and research methods, as well as supervising student research with both undergraduate and graduate students. The department offers both on-campus and online bachelor’s degrees and two master’s degree programs, and is pursuing approval of a new doctoral program in Applied Psychology and Prevention Science.
