DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION TRAVEL AWARDS - CALL FOR 2023 NOW CLOSED

Congratulations to our 2023 recipients!

SARMAC is committed to fostering the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion within our community, and we are dedicated to removing barriers that that have been historically encountered and are currently experienced by some members of our society. We believe that the diversity of our researchers will serve as a strength of SARMAC and a benefit to society.

We are therefore excited to announce that we will be offering a number of awards to help researchers from all backgrounds and geographic locations attend SARMAC XIV in Nagoya, Japan, to present their work. We welcome and encourage applications from Indigenous peoples, racialised persons, visible minorities, women, persons with disabilities, sexual and gender minorities, and members of all underrepresented groups who lack funding opportunities to support their participation at SARMAC.

The value of the awards will depend on the estimated budget and the financial need of the applicant, but we aim to cover the bulk of awardees’ major travel costs.

Applicants must:

  • Be responsible for presenting a project at the conference.

  • Be present throughout the duration of the conference.

To apply, you will need:

  • Your 100-word short abstract

  • A 500-word research summary

  • A 500-word description of your need for travel assistance and accompanying diversity statement

  • An estimated budget for your travel & accommodation costs, and a PDF with evidence of those estimated costs (where possible)
