SARMAC XVII 2029 Expressions of Interest
SARMAC is seeking initial expressions of interest to host SARMAC 2029!
What do I need to do?
At the moment we seek only a brief expression of interest which may span a couple of pages (no more than 4, but fewer are certainly welcome and will not disadvantage your proposal). We want this to be short and as relatively straightforward for you as possible. We would like any expressions of interest to identify a few key issues relating to conference logistics:
Possible venue: would this be a campus-based conference, or hosted at a hotel/conference venue; availability and size of on-campus or off-campus venues
Area accommodation: likely availability, approx. cost (and availability of more affordable options)
Ease of transport between airport and conference venue
Will there be any administrative support from your organisation for hosting?
Is there anything else that makes your location a cool place for a conference?
Are there any foreseeable risks and if so what mitigation might be possible? Presenting risks will not disadvantage your proposal: it is helpful for us to see a thought-through initial proposal and for us to have a realistic sense of the risks.
What are the timelines?
|
Once the Board has received and considered expressions of interest, we will ask a small number of submitters to provide a more detailed proposal around January or February. The Board will then review and provide feedback on these proposals and decide on the next conference location.
Am I eligible?
We only accept expressions of interest direct from our SARMAC members. Professional conference organisers and organisations are not eligible to submit an expression of interest.
And finally
We appreciate that hosting a conference is a big undertaking, and that you would be providing a great service to the Society. The Board is keen to assist in any way we can throughout the process. Hosting a conference is obviously a lot of work, and given how important our conferences are to our Society, we are truly grateful to members who are willing to put in this effort!
