Membership Information
Who may join?
The Society has four categories of membership: Regular member,
Second Family member (if spouse is a regular member), Student
(undergraduate or graduate) and Affiliate. Regular members
must be qualified to conduct scientific research on applied
issues concerning memory and cognition. To be eligible for
regular membership, a person must hold the Ph.D. or have equivalent
experience.
Graduate and undergraduate students in psychology or related
disciplines may apply for student membership. Individuals
who are not students and do not possess the Ph.D. or requisite
experience (such as professionals new to this field) can join
as Affiliates of the Society.
Why should I join?
SARMAC members get a lot for a little. The annual membership
fee for regular members is $75 US. This includes a one-year
subscription to Applied Cognitive Psychology
and Cognitive Technology. The cost of a personal
subscription to these journals is much more than the annual
Society fee for regular members. The fee for second family
members, affiliates, and students for 2007 is $10 US without
a subscription to Applied Cognitive Psychology
and Cognitive Technology or $50 US with a subscription
to the two journals.
How do I join?
Membership is for the calendar year. You may apply for or
renew membership at any time. Individuals who join or renew
late in a given year will receive back-ordered copies of the
issues of Applied Cognitive Psychology and Cognitive
Technology previously published in that year. If you
were previously a SARMAC member but let your membership lapse,
you may renew for 2007 as noted above; there is no penalty
for lapsed membership.
To apply for membership or to renew your membership, you
must first log into the SARMAC system. If you were a member
in 2006, then the logon-ID and password you setup before will
be the same this year.
