Journal SARMAC

Applied Cognitive Psychology

Applied Cognitive Psychology seeks to publish the best papers dealing with psychological analyses of memory, learning, thinking, problem solving, language, and consciousness as they occur in the real world. Applied Cognitive Psychology will publish papers on a wide variety of issues and from diverse theoretical perspectives. The journal focuses on studies of human performance and basic cognitive skills in everyday environments including, but not restricted to, studies of eyewitness memory, autobiographical memory, spatial cognition, skill training, expertise and skilled behaviour. Articles will normally combine realistic investigations of real world events with appropriate theoretical analyses and proper appraisal of practical implications. While empirical research remains the primary focus of the journal, Applied Cognitive Psychology also publishes theoretical articles, reviews and surveys.

Applied Cognitive Psychology is the official journal of the Society for Applied Research in Memory and Cognition (SARMAC). Robert Belli is the Editor representing SARMAC, elected by the Governing Board of the Society. All manuscripts originating in North America should be sent to Robert Belli. Manuscripts originating in Australasia should be sent to the Australasian Editor, Martine Powell. Manuscripts from the rest of the world should be sent to the Founding Editor, Graham Davies.

ACP continues on an impressive trajectory in terms of readership and impact. Wiley estimates the current readership at 4,550 (including members of SARMAC, who get the journal as part of the regular membership fee). The ISI impact factor has grown steadily, breaking 1 in 2001 then going to 1.064 in 2002 and 1.078 in 2003. The journal is also doing well in terms of other measures of impact, such as cited half life (a measure of longevity of impact, clocked at 6.7 years in 2003). ACP is abstracted by more than a dozen bibliographical databases, included PsycINFO and SSCI. Wiley's website makes the journal available in electronic form to all members of SARMAC (and many university libraries also have access).
